Amazon FBA from China: The 2026 Compliance Checklist.

Amazon's carrier and fulfilment centre operations have tightened considerably. The company has invested in automated receiving systems that scan, weigh, and measure every inbound shipment — and the tolerance for non-compliant labelling or packing is effectively zero. Cargo that does not meet requirements is refused at the dock, generating return freight costs, redelivery fees, and critically, a delay to your inventory availability that directly impacts sales rank and buy box eligibility.

For sellers shipping direct from China factories, the compliance risks are concentrated at source: label quality, pallet dimensions, and paperwork accuracy must all be verified before the goods leave China. A qualified China-based forwarder handling your FBA prep is the single highest-leverage investment you can make in your FBA operation.

One of the most common operational failures in China-to-FBA shipping is underestimating appointment lead times at US fulfilment centres. Amazon's Partnered Carrier Program offers competitive LTL rates but requires advance appointment booking through Seller Central, and current lead times at major FC hubs like Inland Empire (CA), Plainfield (IN), and Carteret (NJ) are running 7–14 working days from the time of booking.

This means your delivery window must account for: ocean transit, port clearance, drayage, and then 7–14 days before you can get a dock appointment. Plan your booking at least 3 weeks before you expect cargo to arrive at the destination port. For peak Q4 shipments, book 6–8 weeks in advance.
